Project Safe Place

Project Safe Place” is a program designed to provide a safe haven and immediate help to young people at risk of abuse, neglect, or serious family problems. The Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department is designated as a “Safe Place” site and prominently displays a distinctive yellow and black “Safe Place” logo. Any youth can walk into the Department and let an employee know they need help. We will put them in touch with a social service agency that can provide the help they and their families need. For more information, please call the fire department Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

Vial of Life

The Vial of Life is a small plastic container kept in your home’s refrigerator that contains vital medical information about you and your family. Its purpose is to help EMS personnel and other caregivers provide the best possible care in an emergency situation. A Vial of Life magnet on the refrigerator lets them know the vial is inside. The Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department provides Vial of Life containers and magnets free of charge. To pick up vials for your household, please stop by the fire department Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

The Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department routinely conducts fire safety education in the local schools and general community. If you would like further information on public education for your group or business, please call the fire department Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Highlights of our fire safety education efforts include:

  • We visit all the schools in our jurisdiction to teach fire safety. This includes "Stop, Drop and Roll," "Don't Play with Matches," and "Always have Two Ways Out," and many other topics.
  • Several times a year we visit the schools for the children to tour the fire trucks, ambulance and safety house. Additionally, many Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops come to the firehouse for tours and training.
  • The Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department also participates, along with the rest of Kenton County's fire departments, in a coloring contest for students during "Fire Safety Week" in October.
  • Fire safety education is offered at several city events such as Park Fest.
