City of Taylor Mill “Community” Weight Loss Initiative

The City of Taylor Mill, in partnership with Weight Watchers, is offering to our residents and their friends and family an opportunity to participate in a “Community” Weight Watchers Weight Loss Program. 

If you are just now thinking about losing weight, or you're well on your way, this get healthy initiative is a great opportunity to lose weight in 2009 under the guidance of a program that truly works!  Make this year the last time you vow to start dieting and/or eating healthy.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Weight Watchers it is a program that is based upon losing weight and keeping the weight off for the long haul.  Therefore, this requires more than just a focus on food.  The “Four Pillars” of the Weight Watchers approach (Food, Behavior, Support, and Exercise) promote healthy habits, a supportive environment, and exercise, in addition to making smarter food choices.

Weight Watchers approach to weight loss is proven, healthy, and sustainable.  It fits your life because there are no forbidden foods or required foods.  They don't teach you how to watch your weight they inspire and help you adopt a healthier way to live.  So you can successfully learn how to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight Watchers meetings, which will be held at Park Place Community Center, are an essential part of the weight loss process.  People who attend the meetings lose 3 times more weight than those who don't attend.  The meetings will offer you guidance to stay on track.  In fact, studies have shown that participation in the Weight Watchers Program results in significant improvements in weight loss, activity levels, and quality of life.  Combine that with over 45 years in the weight loss industry, a supportive community of participants, and a trained leader who's lost weight in meetings too, and the results are a proven, time tested way to lose weight.  During the meetings you will receive important weight loss materials, and have a confidential weigh in each week that will help keep you on track.  It's not like a PTA or office meeting:  the leader is someone from Weight Watchers who has been through the process of weight loss and succeeded.  Meetings are an opportunity to get expert advice, share helpful strategies – or just listen and find motivation.  Meetings will only run about a half hour out of your week, and it's worth it.

Participation in the program is strictly voluntary.  For individuals who are interested in learning more please review the following fast facts sheet.  Anyone who would like to register for the program or just learn more is encouraged to attend our information meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.  The meeting will be located at Park Place Community Center, located at 5614 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.

To date the City's Partnership with Weight Watchers has helped people in our community lose over 1,300 pounds, and we congratulate all of our past participants!  You are great losers!!!!

Weight Watchers Community Fast Facts….. 

Eligible Participants:           
Any interested individual, over the age of 18 years.

Length of Program:             
12 weeks.

Meeting Date & Time:          
Meetings will be held weekly on Wednesday night beginning with weigh-ins between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Group session
begins at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Start of Program:  
May 27, 2009 – Informational Meeting/Registration begins 
5:30 p.m.

June 1, 2009 – First Weigh In begins at 5:00 p.m./Session at
5:30 p.m.

Cost of Program:                 
$156.00, payable to Weight Watchers and due in full with 
the submission of your registration.

Miscellaneous:  
*Participants should arrive a few minutes prior to the start
of each meeting for their “confidential” weigh in.

*As with any weight loss program, we recommend that 
  you consult your physician before you begin.

*Reservations accepted on a first come, first served basis.
